Where can I get my e-mail address?

The University provides an e-mail address with a capacity of 50 Mb to each staff from the moment s/he starts to work for the University. If you could not receive your e-mail address for any reason, you can get it from HelpDesk unit in return for your signature.

I lost my e-mail password, what should I do?

You can get a new password from Helpdesk in return for your signature.

After you log into your account at http://webmail.ieu.edu.tr, you should enter 'Options' and get a new password.

Can I have access to my e-mails from the web?

Yes. You should enter http://webmail.ieu.edu.tr and your own page and then your user name and password.

Can I have access to my e-mails from home?

You can have Access to your e-mails from each computer with an internet connection. You should just enter http://webmail.ieu.edu.tr

Can I have access to my mails from Thunderbird?

Yes, you can have access to your e-mails from Thunderbird. You should define your account information under the mail program. For mor help about account information definition, please see "Documents".

What is web area? How is it used?

Each academic and administrative personnel in the University has a web site allocated for their personal usage and that is accessible on internet.

Web area is the place where the personal web pages you prepared are being published on internet. If you prepare your personal web page and transfer the files about the page to this area, all internet users can see this area and visit your page. The capacity of the web area is 300 mb.

Unless otherwise specified, your web address will be like http://homes.ieu.edu.tr/firstletterofthenamesurname. firstletterofthenamesurname is the same with your username for your e-mail account. You can visit our "Documents" page for detailed information about how to use these areas.

Why do I have to use a certified software?

Software certificate is a document which preserves the rights of the owner of copyright (software producer). It is obligatory to get a certificate for each software. This shows that you do not violate the copyright of the producer and consider his efforts. The rights of the owner of copyright are also preserved by laws.

Copyright laws declare openly that persons cannot copy softwares without permission. Nobody can copy and distribute a software without the permission of the copyright owner. If you copy a software without permission or provide an illegal copy for another person, you will violate the laws.

The computer debitted to my name is broken down, what should I do?

If you do not have an internet access problem, please send an e-mail to the relevant unit stating your status and explain the problem in detail.

If you do not send an e-mail about your problem (if you do not have an internet connection, you cannot reach your e-mail account or forgot your password, etc.), please inform HelpDesk by phone (279). Following such notic, HelpDesk executives will make an electronic request on your behalf and your request will be registered.

As there may be previous requests prior to yours and there may be some delays, we kindly request to wait for your request to be carried out.

It is difficult tosend e-mail, can I make a faliure notice by phone?

If you do not have a problem in sending e-mails, the failure notices done by phone will not be regarded and HelpDesk will not be responsible for such delays as failure notices should be registered in written.

The computer I am using does not meet my needs, what should I do?

If your computer is slow and does not have a good performance, please inform the technical team by e-mail. In line with the report of the technical team and the administrative decision, the university will provide the necessary service. (If there is a problem with your computer, the necessary transactions for renewal are started.)

The printer I am using is out of toner, how can I refill it?

Toner and similar material (keyboard, mouse, plug and etc.) purchases are carried out by the Purchase Unit. Please contact Onur ISGÜZERER for such requests.

The mouse I am using is broken down, what should I do?

Can I ask for software support from HelpDesk?

Users are considered to have knowledge about how to use computers and computer programs. Technical support service does not include teaching how to use software and guiding which steps to follow.

Can I download software to my computer?

The list of softwares to be used in the computer provided by the University is avaliable at the following address: http://comp.ieu.edu.tr/bimeko/main.php?pID=2&dID=1020&yve=1&lngID=2

If a request is formed for other academic or commercial software, after a certified copy of the software together with the user guide are submitted to IT Dept., the report regarding technical support service will be submitted to the Secretariat General and the relevant unit will be informed.

Can I use the university internet with my personal laptop?

Yes, you should apply to the HelpDesk with your laptop and fill in an activation form. This activation can only be done for students and academic staff of the university.
